22nd IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion

The International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) is a unique worldwide association of individuals and organisations committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the people of the world and to reducing health inequalities. Its core mission lies in advocating the case for effective health promotion (including health education and community action) and the development and implementation of healthy public policy. The IUHPE is a knowledge-based organisation which develops and delivers health promotion research, training and capacity building services to a broad range of clients.

The IUHPE has existed for over sixty years and remains a relevant and resilient organisation. It is a global membership-based organisation and as such maintains its professional independence whilst still working in close collaboration with UN agencies, other major intergovernmental institutions, non-governmental organisations, networks, national agencies, academic institutions and a broad range of practitioners in the field.

The purpose of the IUHPE is to influence and facilitate the development of health promotion knowledge, strategies and projects, and it does so through evidence-informed advocacy work.
It aims to provide an opportunity to build an international network that encourages the free exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences, as well as facilitating the development of relevant collaborative projects at global, regional and local levels.

The IUHPE’s triennial World Conferences on Health Promotion, are renowned events bringing together leading professionals in all corners of the world to take stock of the present state of knowledge and experiences, bring forward future challenges and shape the agenda to advance developments in health promotion.

The 22nd IUHPE World Conference in Curitiba, Brazil will further the core business of IUHPE in developing and disseminating evidence and learning to advance the field of health promotion and in keeping health promotion on the policy agenda. It is a key opportunity for the Latin American health promotion and public health communities to showcase their research and developments with other stakeholders: researchers, practitioners, academics, institutions and governments worldwide. Finally, the conference generates new members and revenue for the IUHPE, and strengthens its global network.
